About the role

Brookline Sprouts is hiring a Classroom Aide to support the lead teacher with the daily work of a classroom. You will help carry out the lead teacher's curriculum and may lead parts of activities under qualified staff supervision. Administrators are actively involved in classroom work and support the teaching team. Depending on program needs and your availability, you may work with potty-trained children ages 3–5 or in the school-age program.

Brookline Sprouts is part of Tree of Life Open Bible Church's work with Brookline families. Each role helps make the neighborhood a better place for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher with daily classroom activities and practical classroom needs.
  • Help lead parts of activities using the lead teacher's curriculum under qualified staff supervision.
  • Support children in the preschool or school-age program as assigned.
  • Help supervise children and maintain a safe classroom under qualified staff supervision.
  • Enter daily child information in Brightwheel and communicate with families through the app.
  • Help keep the classroom tidy and support children during meals.
  • Provide limited help with homework in the school-age program.
  • Help with the walking school bus.

Qualifications

  • Meet Pennsylvania child care center aide qualifications under 55 Pa. Code § 3270.37. A high school diploma or GED is one qualifying education path, and that path does not require prior child care experience; other qualifying paths also exist.
  • Applicants who also meet Pennsylvania Assistant Group Supervisor qualifications are preferred, but those qualifications are not required for the Classroom Aide opening.
  • Work under supervision of a staff member qualified at least as an Assistant Group Supervisor, as required for aides by Pennsylvania's child care center regulations.
  • Complete the ongoing training required for child care staff under Pennsylvania regulations.

Schedule

Flexible, 0–39 hours per week based on your availability and available work. The center is open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; those are operating hours, not a fixed shift.

Pay

$12–$17 per hour.
