About the role

Brookline Sprouts is hiring an Assistant Teacher who meets Pennsylvania Assistant Group Supervisor qualifications. You may work with potty-trained children ages 3–5 or in the school-age program. You will support the lead teacher, lead portions of daily activities, and fill in when the lead teacher is away. Administrators are actively involved in classroom work and support the teaching team. The lead teacher prepares the curriculum; your role is to carry out that plan, not create it.

Brookline Sprouts is part of Tree of Life Open Bible Church's work with Brookline families. Each role helps make the neighborhood a better place for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Support the lead teacher with daily classroom activities.
  • Lead portions of classroom activities using the lead teacher's curriculum.
  • Fill in when the lead teacher is away, coordinate the planned activities, and supervise aides as required for Assistant Group Supervisors.
  • Supervise children and help maintain a safe classroom.
  • Enter daily child information in Brightwheel and communicate with families through the app.
  • Help keep the classroom tidy and support children during meals.
  • Provide limited homework help in the school-age program and help with the walking school bus when assigned.

Qualifications

  • Meet Pennsylvania Assistant Group Supervisor qualifications under 55 Pa. Code § 3270.36.
  • Complete the ongoing training required for child care staff under Pennsylvania regulations.
  • Attend required staff meetings, workshops, and training to maintain Keystone STARS 4 and DHS compliance.

Schedule

Flexible, 0–39 hours per week based on your availability and available work. The center is open Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; those are operating hours, not a fixed shift.

Pay

$15–$20 per hour.
